Part of the news coverage of the spread of the Ebola virus in West Africa included allegations that two Americans who worked on the continent to help and treat Africans stricken by the disease or at risk for it were treated for it in the United States and now have the illness under control. The use of a serum was identified. Some of the most at risk and stricken on the continent say that they would like access to the treatment or serum used. What is the name of this serum and is it among the treatments being investigated by FDA? Was it experimental? Will it ultimately be used on the continent?
